Thomas Miller Group

Founded in 1885, the TM Group has a long tradition of outstanding performance in each of its areas of operation, specialisation and expertise. Thomas Miller manages some of the largest insurance mutuals in the global shipping sector. It also owns other specialist insurance businesses in which it deploys exemplary skills in underwriting, claims handling, loss prevention, risk management and legal advice.

The Group has been steadily and successfully expanding the scope of its business since the mid-1980s. Previously a group of partnerships, the firm incorporated in 1999 and is now owned, to the benefit of its clients, predominantly by its employees.

Today, TM employs over 850 people worldwide, and has offices on four continents. It has grown and prospered for over a century by maintaining an unwavering focus on its customers’ needs, an acute commercial awareness, plus a flexible response to changing circumstances through many economic cycles.

Thomas Miller Captive Management Limited.

Thomas Miller Captive Management Limited was established on the Isle of Man in 1988 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Thomas Miller Holdings. In 1999 it had its book of business enhanced by the acquisition of Commercial Union’s Isle of Man captive management business. This book of business was further enhanced in 2016 when it acquired the clients and staff of Castletown Insurance Services Limited, the only other independent Isle of Man insurance manager.

Through its managed growth Thomas Miller Captive Management is the largest independent insurance manager on the Isle of Man and arguably one of the largest insurance managers when considering the number of active clients it has under management. Today it employs 23 full time staff comprising insurance and accounting professionals.
